The Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WI) provides emergency 911 dispatching services to all municipalities in the county except the City of West Bend. Many municipalities within Washington County require, and the Sheriff’s Office strongly recommends, that all residents notify our office of controlled burns before initiating the burn. Historically, our dispatch center handles approximately 3000 calls per year from residents reporting controlled burns. In an attempt to minimize the number of non-emergency calls coming into our dispatch center, the Sheriff’s Office has implemented a new online reporting system for residents to self-report their controlled burns. The new online form is easy to complete and helps preserve the dispatch centers time for actual emergencies. Effective immediately, residents are encouraged to report their controlled burns by visiting the Sheriff’s website at https://www.washcowisco.gov/departments/sheriff_office and completing the brief online form located under the “Report Controlled Burns” tab.
